Faculty members in the Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery at UC Irvine School of Medicine are experts in the medical and surgical treatment of colorectal and small intestinal disorders, including inflammatory bowel disease, diverticulitis, rectal prolapse, fecal incontinence, and anal, perianal, colon and rectal cancers.
Our faculty members are also experts in minimally invasive surgical approaches and are actively engaged in new clinical trials and research to help our patients and others.
The divison has an ACGME-accredited residency in colon & rectal surgery. The candidate for this residency should be a general surgeon seeking specialty training in diseases of the colon, rectal and anus.
Our faculty members also mentor the local and regional surgeons of today. We teach and train minimally invasive (laparoscopic) techniques through mini-fellowships, the only training course of its kind in California for colon and rectal surgery.
